Bollywood for Beginners

I have a big passion for Hindi films (Indian cinema), and I’m always happy to introduce new people to this wonderful world also known as Bollywood!

It would be very easy for me to fill tens of pages with information about the films and things more or less related to them, but there is nothing that could possibly replace your own experience of actually watching a film and finding out for yourself. I’m only going to give you three simple pieces of advice:

  • Watch films for entertainment, not critical evaluation.
  • Keep in mind that Hindi films tend to operate on a level of emotional logic, rather than “common logic” :)
  • Enjoy!

Below you’ll find a list (in no specific order) of my personal recommendations for people who are new to and curious about Hindi cinema. The smileys give you an idea of what sort of mood the film has, and I’ve added links to IMDb so you can find out more about the details.
