Undress Me

...

just like a secret loses
its identity when
it is revealed

tear away the veils,
expose me and
set love free

in shiva’s tumble-drier
fear and worry are all
being wrung out

undress me, my love
strip away the layers
throw them all in

let me be uncovered
leave nothing here but
the naked truth

my beloved magician
conjuring worlds out of nothing
i’ve revelled in your illusions
enjoyed the magic tricks

but everything is different now
just one peek behind the curtain
and all i long for is to be
your vanishing act

Reflections...Mirror, mirror in the sky… tell me, who am I?

In the summer of ‘07 a friend of mine lent me a couple of books on Advaita Vedanta and Sufi poetry. This was my very first encounter with Sri Ramana Maharishi, and also the first time I fell in love with the poetry of Rumi. Ever since then, I keep falling in love with Rumi’s words…

om

I am out of words to describe the beauty, intensity and essence of my recent three months stay in India. It was a truly magical journey, and the spirit of the experience as a whole still lingers very close to my heart… Had I written a postcard from Tiruvannamalai, this is what it would have said:

I’m at a loss for words… sitting on rooftops, sipping chai and keeping quiet…

Srinagar, Kashmir

Late, by myself, in the boat of myself,
no light and no land anywhere,
cloud cover thick. I try to stay
just above the surface,
yet I’m already under
and living with the ocean.

You’ve no idea how hard I’ve looked for a gift to bring you.
Nothing seemed right.

What’s the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the ocean?
Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the orient.

It’s no good giving my heart and my soul, because you already have these.

So, I’ve brought you a mirror.
Look at yourself and remember me.

Says Shiva:
I alone am. No one has ever belonged to me, nor have I belonged to anyone else.
No one has ever loved me, nor have I loved anyone else. I alone am [as everything. There is no other].

Papaji

The gap between breaths or thoughts or between any other two movements is always there and it has nothing to do with the movement itself. This gap is what the movement occurs in. You are the gap. Knowing this will make the difference.

“I” is the password to log on to this world. Don’t trust the software of the mind. All its files are corrupt, every thought a potential virus.

Don’t go out for a while. Just sit at the [rotating] sushi table of life and see what it brings you. Don’t come to life bringing your own menu.
